Two Family Tree
The racial divide as we live it today is not normal. It is unnatural. This is a topic I often avoid. I have my reasons.
As a race—humanity—we are still in our infancy. We grasp at identity, love, and belonging with the fumbling fingers of a child. We are not yet whole, not yet wise. I feel cold—numb in a world that constantly reminds me of my category, my color, my supposed side.
“But you are white! How can you feel cold?”
“I love my family.”
“Impossible! You are Black!”
“Strangely, I love my Asian wife.”
The questions that divide us are built on assumptions too shallow to hold the depth of our human experience. This piece is not a protest. It is not a lecture. It is an offering—a mirror to remind us of our shared roots, and the branches that could grow if we stopped pruning each other by race.
“Two Family Tree” is a confrontation with the artificial barriers between us. Two trees grow—one twisted by history, the other reaching for light. But beneath the soil, the roots are tangled. They always were.
